Terms of use

Use the service to improve a place, not target a person.

Pre-launch draft prepared 3 September 2026. These terms are not effective or counsel-approved until the Operator is legally identified and the final version is approved.

Status and Operator

Our Local Solution is currently an unincorporated website, not a separate legal entity. Before real submissions are accepted, these terms must identify the full legal name and service address of the individual operating the service, or of a newly formed entity. In these terms, “Operator” means that person or future entity. Contact solutions@ourlocalsolution.org.

The service

Adults may apply privately from anywhere in the world. The Operator may assess a local problem, research responsibility, propose a source-backed plan, coordinate only approved outreach, and prepare an optional redacted public case. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, investigation, publication, referral, or resolution. A case may be declined because of safety, law, sanctions, language, location, capacity, or lack of reliable local information.

Your immediate confirmation is only a receipt and case reference. It is not acceptance, an investigation, a diagnosis, or a solution. Staff first vets the application. If research proceeds, the proposed plan is rendered as a private PDF for internal feasibility inspection. You are notified and shown the plan only after staff decides to proceed.

Important boundaries

The service is not a government body, emergency service, law firm, healthcare provider, insurer, contractor, or your representative. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, engineering, or other regulated advice; hire or pay contractors; perform physical work; or guarantee an outcome. Government bodies, landlords, utilities, businesses, and other organizations remain responsible for their own decisions.

Do not use this service for an emergency, immediate danger, crime in progress, medical crisis, urgent safeguarding concern, or urgent housing hazard. Contact the emergency or specialist service where the situation is happening. Submissions are not continuously monitored.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. Keep your email account, devices, sign-in links, and sessions secure. Do not share case access or enter another person's workspace. We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect people, records, or systems.

Your responsibilities

Provide information you reasonably believe is accurate, distinguish facts from opinions, minimize personal data, respect confidentiality, and upload only material you may lawfully provide. Information about another person should be included only when reasonably necessary and lawfully disclosed.

Do not harass, threaten, defame, discriminate, retaliate, dox, impersonate, distribute malware, evade access controls, scrape private information, interfere with the service, or use it for an unlawful act or public targeting of a private individual.

Your material and publication

You retain rights in your original material. You give the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license, only for as long as reasonably necessary, to host, secure, review, summarize, redact, and process it to provide and protect the service. This license does not authorize publication.

A case starts private. Publication requires a separate redacted preview and affirmative consent to that specific version. We may redact, delay, refuse, correct, or withdraw publication for privacy, safety, accuracy, law, or service integrity. You may withdraw future publication consent, subject to lawful retention and material already used by others.

The website, software, branding, and material created by the Operator or its licensors remain theirs. You receive only a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. You may not resell or copy the service, remove rights notices, reverse engineer it except where that restriction is unlawful, or imply an endorsement through its branding.

External contact

Permission to contact you is separate from permission to contact a third party. Every external case message requires the necessary case-fact sharing permission and human approval. You may withdraw future outreach permission before a message is sent, but a delivered message cannot be recalled.

Automated assistance

Only after affirmative staff vetting may automated tools moderate privacy-minimized information and prepare a draft analysis. They do not make authoritative or legally significant decisions. Staff must inspect the exact private plan PDF and decide to proceed before it is released. Human approval remains required for every contact, publication, and closure. You may dispute an inaccurate released plan in the private workspace.

Moderation and service availability

We may redact, decline, unpublish, suspend, preserve, or close material when reasonably necessary for safety, privacy, accuracy, law, or service integrity. We aim to explain material decisions privately. The service may change, pause, or end and is not promised to be uninterrupted or error-free.

Privacy

The privacy notice explains data collection, legal bases, publication, service providers, international transfers, retention, security, and rights. Optional outreach and publication choices are separate from acceptance of these terms.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as available,” without a warranty of a particular result, uninterrupted operation, or completeness of third-party information. You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to act and should obtain qualified professional help where appropriate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss. No monetary liability cap has been selected. Any proposed amount, exclusions, and relationship to fees paid must be completed and approved by counsel for the markets in which the service is offered. Nothing here excludes a mandatory consumer protection or liability that cannot be excluded.

Complaints, disputes, and governing law

Email solutions@ourlocalsolution.org with the case reference, challenged decision, and requested remedy. Do not send sensitive evidence by ordinary email; use the authenticated portal when available. We will provide a review and explain the appeal route.

These proposed terms are governed by Colorado law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts of competent jurisdiction in Colorado will have jurisdiction, except that this choice does not remove mandatory rights or a forum that cannot lawfully be waived where you live. This draft does not require arbitration or waive class or representative proceedings.

Changes and contact

The effective terms will display a version and date. Material changes will be posted and renewed agreement requested where required; silence will not be treated as consent. Service, legal, privacy, accessibility, security, complaint, and appeal contact: solutions@ourlocalsolution.org.
